This summer, visitors to Thinktank are invited to take a walk on the wild side with the new THINKTANK GOES WILD! season of events and activities, from 6 May – 5 September 2010. Thinktank is hosting an awe-inspiring showcase of some of the world’s most amazing animals, and the stunning Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2009 exhibition. There are lots of animal-themed, fun activities for everyone to enjoy, including workshops, science shows, handling sessions, and much more.

Every weekend and throughout the school holidays, families can join in the Survival of the Weirdest Science Show to take a look at some of the wackiest and most wonderful animals in the world. For younger visitors there is Meerkat Madness Storytelling where little ones can join Max the Meerkat on his epic quest to survive in the dangerous and deadly Kalahari Desert. Plus, on selected days throughout July and August there will be Animal Handling Sessions where visitors can come and meet their favourite animals, or confront their most feared creatures in special phobia sessions.

THINKTANK GOES WILD! boasts two new activity areas for visitors. Children can let their imaginations run wild in the new Creative Corner, with the space and resources to help them capture their favourite animals on paper. At selected times Thinktank staff will be running arts and crafts workshops, making all sorts of creations, from animal masks to bird feeders. In addition, the Handling Hub is the perfect place to get to grips with animal artefacts, as visitors will find a variety of skulls, skins and skeletons to explore, touch and examine.

The Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition is regarded as the international leader in the artistic representation of the natural world. The exhibition includes stunning images of the world’s most beautiful creatures in their natural habitats, from orangutans in Borneo, to leopards in Russia. This is a unique opportunity for visitors to come and see some of the greatest wildlife photographs, brought together in one place.

THINKTANK GOES WILD! season runs from 6 May – 5 September 2010. Tickets cost £36.80 for a family of 4.
