Share your memories of The REP

Subscribe to RSS RSSWednesday, 21st April, 2010

In January 2011 The REP will close the doors on its current building for a change of scenery. To mark our temporary move offsite we’re creating an exhibition celebrating the past, present and future of the Birmingham Repertory Theatre company and your memories are a vital part.

We’d love you to hear your REP memories and share them with others on our website and in our foyer. Which show was your favourite? Was there a performer you’ll never forget or a set that stole the show? Please leave your memories in the comments section below or Tweet us @birminghamrep – it would be lovely to include your thoughts.

REP Facts

The REP is one of Britain’s leading producers of new theatre and one of the largest producing theatres outside London.

Between 2003 and 2008, 133 new were plays produced at The REP

Birmingham Repertory Theatre has helped launch the careers of many great actors including Laurence Olivier, John Gielgud, Derek Jacobi, Peggy Ashcroft and Julie Christie.

The REP’s studio theatre The Door is dedicated to the creation of new work - the only such studio in a regional theatre.

Many of The REP’s productions transfer to other regional theatres or to the West End or go on national tour, championing the name of Birmingham and the region.

The REP’s production of The Snowman has made appearances as far afield as Edinburgh, Salford and Seoul and is an annual fixture at London’s Peacock Theatre.

The REP nurtures new talent but actors such as Alan Rickman, David Suchet, Anita Dobson, Matthew Kelly and Stephanie Beacham are amongst the many established performers that have also been attracted to our productions.

Birmingham Repertory Theatre is 100 years old in 2013!
