Road Works

On Monday 14 June from 11am to 6.30pm, five cultural spaces have been constructed where parking spaces used to be - for one day only.

Each space has a different way of reminding us that the city is constantly reinventing itself. Visitors can explore them all to discover art installations, unique leisure spaces and new experiences.

ROAD WORKS is a Birmingham City Council initiative, working with artists whose interventions will be located close to Victoria Square (Waterloo Street) and St Phillips Cathedral (Colmore Row).

The inspiration for ROAD WORKS is PARK(ing) Day, an annual, one-day, global event where artists, activists and citizens independently but simultaneously transform metered parking spots into temporary public parks and cultural spaces. It now involves 140 cities across the world.
