Youth Arts Summit: 12th July 2013
In 2012 Sir Albert Bore, Leader of Birmingham City Council held an Arts & Culture Summit, giving the cultural sector the opportunity to shape the big decisions about the future of the arts in our city but …… ‘where were the young people?’
At the Arts & Culture summit a commitment was made to hold a Youth Arts Summit, to ensure that young people get to have their say and are heard on the issues that matter to them.
On Friday 12th July at Birmingham Hippodrome (against a spectacular backdrop of The Lion King stage set) young people will have the chance to witness inspiring performances and speakers, take place in creative workshops, find out what they want to know about Birmingham’s cultural life (art, music theatre and everything else), and, very importantly, to tell us what they think.
The Youth Arts Summit will:
• be a chance for the young people to find out more about arts and culture across our city, in their local neighbourhood and far beyond
• offer real insight and advice about creative careers, how to make the most of opportunities and how to create new ones
